Touch of Fall

To be honest, it has been very difficult to get in the mood for Fall decor. I truly think the pumpkins on my front porch have baked in the 90 degree, record breaking weather.

This year amidst the mess of remodeling, I knew I had to keep Fall decor simple. Especially since I will need to start Christmas decorating in early November. What? Well, between the many rehearsals and concerts that I will need to attend during the holiday season, and anticipating hosting family at Christmas, I probably should have put up my tree last week. Just kidding (not kidding).

So here are a few spots around my home I managed to dress up for the Fall season.

First, is my fireplace mantel. The only thing I bought new this year were the fresh pumpkins, gourds, and mums. The other decor came from my seasonal stash and the Fall paintings I’ve done over the last few years.

I bought that great pineapple board at Hobby Lobby earlier this year. Normally, I like to create my own art, but I kept coming back to it in the store and thinking how good it would be all year long. I think it really looks good as a background piece for other seasonal decorations. The pumpkins on the candlesticks are faux. I painted them a few years ago. The one on the right was originally orange and the left one was white but ugly. The two little white pumpkins are real.

Next, in the dining area, I wanted something on top of the china cabinet that was quick and easy. So I popped this gourd under a cloche and call it done. The painting is one of my favorites. I did it for an art class study of landscapes. I saw a photo by Denis Belitsky on Pinterest and reproduced it in a painting. I would love to give you a link, but the site looks like it is in Cyrillic.

Isn’t that the cutest little gourd?

Across the room is my Fall quilt hanging that I bought YEARS ago. The pottery piece is filled with dried grasses. Yes, that is a black belt on a black table. I didn’t see it until I started editing the photo.

Finally, in the kitchen I filled a small vase with faux leaves, the copper pot painting, and a Pokemon pumpkin.

I think it is so sweet.

And here is a little sneak peek at the project we just finished for our kitchen. More on that coming up.
